They are made of ultra-soft silicone and can be sterilized in an autoclave. Disinfectants cannot be washed out of the curlers and are transferred to the client's eyelids - if you use a disinfectant designed for surfaces and instruments on the curlers, the curler may sting the client or even cause a slight burn to the upper eyelid.
