ILICO antimicrobial gloves are formulated to kill 99.999% of microbes on the outer surface of the glove immediately upon contact. The gloves are a photosensitive compound, a so-called photosensitizer. When exposed to light, this compound reacts with oxygen and immediately forms so-called singlet oxygen. This is highly reactive and thus immediately oxidizes the multiple structures of microbial cells (i.e. lipid and protein).

As a result, the risk of spreading microbes from the source of infection to the patient is minimized.
